I framtiden är samhället på väg att kollapsa och miljontals människor är arbetslösa. Myndigheterna tvingas till drastiska åtgärder och forslar varje år en skolklass till en isolerad ö, där de får delta i ett spel där endast en kan överleva.

Vetenskapsmannen Sebastian Caine arbetar för Pentagon i ett hemligt militärt laboratorium, där man arbetar med att ta fram en drog som framkallar total osynlighet. Den arrogante Caine lyckas skapa en drog som fungerar på djur, men struntar i order och testar drogen på sig själv. Han blir osynlig, men när han åter igen ska bli synlig, går någonting fel, och experimentet misslyckas. Han är fångad i sitt eget experiment, och gradvis börjar han förvandlas. Snart är laboratoriet skådeplatsen för en kamp på liv och död.

Högt uppe över staden Whoville bor den grinige och ensamme Mr. Grinch vars hjärta är två nummer för litet. Alla de glada invånarna i Whoville älskar julen och är i full färd med att förbereda en härlig fest. Men är det något Grinchen hatar så är det julen, så han bestämmer sig för att göra slut på julfirandet. Men han upptäcker att den sanna julkänslan är mer än bara glitter och leksaker...
