Mavericks: The best of... 1992-99 [CD]

'Stardust' is the twenty-second studio album by Willie Nelson and it spans the genres of pop, jazz, and country. This is an album of covers of traditional pop songs, but the primary impression it leaves is neither country nor traditional pop. Instead, the key is the tasteful production by Booker T. Jones, swinging but understated percussion, warm bass, and bluesy keyboards. Willie's weary outlaw vocals and sublime guitar picking fit it like a glove. 'Stardust' was on the Billboard Country charts for over ten years, was certified quintuple platinum, won a Grammy Award and the album was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame. It's an album that still grows stronger with each passing year.

1972 hände något mycket märkligt. En grupp som kallade sig Roxy Music släppte ett album med en underlig hybrid av avantgarde och popmusik. Omslaget pryddes av en fotomodell av 50-tals snitt. Året därpå kom "For your pleasure", där de tog ytterligare ett steg framåt vad gäller konstnärligt utförande. Herrarna Bryan Ferry och Brian Eno var de ledande i gruppen och två starka viljor som drar åt olika håll är en omöjlighet i långa loppet. Eno var mer för den experimentella biten, Ferry tyckte mer om soul och pop. Eno lämnade gruppen efter denna skiva, men de andra fortsatte att göra bra skivor med Roxy Music. Eno körde solo och har även han gjort en rad fantastiska album på egen hand.
