Christian Petzold writes and directs this German-French drama based on the novel by novel by Anna Seghers. The film follows young Jew Georg (Franz Rogowski) as he flees Nazi-occupied Paris and travels to Marseille. There, he assumes the identity of a deceased writer named Weidel to secure safe passage out of the country.
