Den klassiska monsterfilmen Godzilla.
Flera japanska fartyg har mystiskt förstörts i Stilla Havet av radioaktiv strålning som kommer nere ifrån djupet. Den dödar huvuddelen av bestättningen omedelbart och de få som klarar sig dör snart av strålningsskador.
Den skyldige visar sig vara en dinosaurie som miljontals år legat i dvala på havsbotten. Nu har den väckts av kärnvapenproven och har dessutom muterats av strålningen till ett 50 meter högt monster.
