Carl Bergsten är mest känd som arkitekten bakom Liljevalchs konsthall i Stockholm och Stadsteatern i Göteborg. Nu utkommer den första genomgripande boken om Bergstens liv och verk. Bengt OH Johansson skriver fram ett arkitekt- och livsöde i en svensk brytningstid, 1900-talets tre första decennier.  Bergsten är en helt unik röst i en tid präglad av strikta hierarkier. Hans rörelse ut i Europa tillför den svenska arkitekturen delikata former och lekfulla infall från en helt annan värld.

UPPLYST is Swedish for enlightened and a book which illuminates the work of Art and life of artist Hans Frode. There are many similarities to paint a picture and to live a life. Layer after layer is constantly added, still the same picture but the perspective becomes different because of the result of our actions and time. We live the same life, but a small sudden change created even by chance, can completely change our conditions and life. It is through living our lives we really learn who we are. A painting is a footprint, a piece of cake from time. Time itself is created through the speed of light.  The real paintings in this book all involve waves of light from neon tubes, which make, the in recycled antique frame mounted motif appear contemporary and present. This genre of paintings, on glass and with illuminated glass applications has been called neonism. This book shares with you an artist life from various parts of the world and suggest that we all are the architects of our own lives.  Consciousness is constantly permeated by thoughts. These thoughts form within us an underlying pattern based on which we act and feel. However, these thoughts are not real or true unless we choose to make them so. We choose our patterns, and we can make this choice conscious. As the poem says; Traveler, there is no road, You make your own path as you walk.

Jan Petter Collier (b. 1950) has collected Norwegian and international art for 40 years. In this book, a wide selection from his collection is presented, a total of 50 different artists, 25 from the Nordic region. In a conversation with Janne Sirén, director of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, Collier talks about his passion for art and his commitment to promoting Nordic art abroad. The collection maintains a very high level with works by, among others, Per Kirkeby, Fischli &amp; Weiss, Asger Jorn, Robert Rauschenberg, Josh Smith, Bruce Nauman, Inger Sitter and Håkon Bleken. Norwegian artists include; Ida Ekblad, Eline Mugaas, Sverre Bjærtnes and Bjarne Melgaard. Collier's interest in photography is shown through outstanding photographers such as Ed Ruscha, Steven Shore, William Eggleston, Frank Horvat, Per Maning and Dag Alveng. The book also consists of a conversation between Tone Hansen, director at MUNCH, and artists Eline Mugaas and Olav Christopher Jenssen as well as an essay by Knut Brundtland. Nicolai Tangen has been collecting art for over 30 years. Now this entire collection of 5,500 works is to be transferred to Kunstsilo in Kristiansand. The collection focuses on Nordic modernism  (1910 2020). This is the first time this fantastic art collection is being presented to a larger audience. The book contains two books in one cassette. On 850 pages, almost 1,000 works from the collections are presented. Initially with the main emphasis on painting and sculpture, similar books on photography and art on paper will be published later. AKO Art Foundation and Orfeus Publishing by Inger Schjoldager have worked for more than 4 years on this book production, and we are proud to finally be able to present this unique collection.
