<p>This magnificent large-format illustrated book takes you down to the most spectacular wrecks in the Baltic Sea. This unique sea holds close toere are nearly 100,000 wrecks on the seabed here - many of them in surprisingly well keptgood condition. Fotografen Christer Löfgren vill att hans bilder ska förmedla det känsloläge han själv hade vid fototillfället. Han har på sina resor över hela världen alltid minst två kameror med sig. Bilderna blir på detta sätt mycket spontana och ambitionen är att de ska bli så naturliga som möjligt, aldrig arrangerade eller ordnade. Christer använder inte stativ eller blixt utan bilderna är ögonblickliga, för att vi som tittar på bilderna ska kunna känna stämningen. Hans ambition är sedan att göra så lite som möjligt i efterbehandlingen, endast lättare ljus-färgkorrigeringar och beskärningar. Water routes long constituted the most natural way to travel, and the ships that people travelled on also served as an expression of the owner s status and power. The roughly forty ship artefacts in the Maritime Collection at Engelsberg, in the form of figureheads, ornaments and other decorative elements, bear witness to many stories about life at sea.  This anthology presents a number of approaches to the many symbols and artistic expressions found on vessels, along with recent photos and new knowledge about the figureheads.

<p>Att furstar i alla tider byggt slott, befästningar och hela städer är välkänt. Enskilda kungligheters arkitekturintresse och i vissa fall utövande som arkitekter har däremot varit mindre utforskat.  </p><p>Nyligen har forskning om Gustav III (1746-1792) visat att han själv var arkitekten bakom flera viktiga byggnadsprojekt. Även George III av England (1760-1820) hade ett stort arkitekturintresse och hans ritningar och skisser finns bevarade. Frankrikes Louis XIV (1638-1715) var högst delaktig i utformandet av både slottet och trädgården runt Versailles. <p>During the latter part of the nineteenth century, so-called esoteric movements became increasingly popular in cultural and intellectual circles in Europe, not least in Sweden. Secret teachings, rituals and practices in alchemy, astrology, occultism and theosophy were predominant, with a belief in correspondences in the cosmos, living nature and transmutations. But esotericism goes back much further in time in Swedish history. Although such esoteric ideas were long considered heresy by the Church and thus driven underground, they have had a significant impact on Swedish culture.</p><p>In this anthology, we bring together some of Sweden s foremost experts on the subject to explore the history of esotericism in Sweden and how its rituals, practices and traditions came to influence writers and artists such as August Strindberg, Selma Lagerlöf, Viktor Rydberg, Hilma af Klint, Tyra Kleen and Carl Milles.</p>
