That image is now in the renowned photography collection of the V&A Museum and marked the beginning of Kevin Cummins' four-decade-long visual chronicle of David Bowie's remarkable career. <i>David Bowie: Mixing Memory & Desire</i> includes some of the best portraits of Bowie ever taken, the majority of which have never been published until now. From those legendary Bowie gigs in the early 1970s, through to a poignant image taken outside his apartment in New York in 2016, Cummins has captured the many faces of Bowie and created a book that is essential for Bowie fans everywhere.</p>

<p>Post Scriptum Christer Strömholm is by far the largest monograph to detail one of Sweden's best known photographers and his life. With nearly 270 of Christer Strömholm's best photographs and around 60 complement pictures, a biography by author Johan Tell and essays by journalist Carole Naggar and gallery owner Christian Caujolle, it forms something which may well come to be a future standard work within the subject of photography.</p><p>Christer Strömholm (1918-2002) was one of the most important Swedish photographers of our time. He spent most of his life in Sweden but early on made France his second home. He founded the legendary photography college Fotoskolan in Stockholm in 1962 and inspired an entire generation of Swedish photographers.</p><p>He is most famous for his depiction of transsexuals in the Paris of the 1960s, resulting in his book Vännerna från Place Blanche (The Friends from Place Blanche). His photographs from travels in Japan, Spain and the United States have also won wide acclaim and are represented in several of the world's leading museums.</p><p>Christer Strömholm was appointed professor of photography by the Swedish government and was honoured with the prestigious Hasselblad Award in 1997.</p>

Steven Henry Madoff Spanning a prolific five decades, Dawid: This Is a Photograph is the first truly comprehensive publication tracing the work of the pioneering Swedish photographer. With his pared-down, intellectual yet markedly sensual conceptualism Dawid (Björn Dawidsson) was one of the first photographers to break with the prevailing documentary tradition in Sweden in the late 1970s and 80s and claim photography as an artistic medium. Focusing on the formal properties of everyday objects a simultaneous suspension, negation, and affirmation of form his images question our ingrained values and expectations, deconstructing the very foundation of photography from within. Experimentation is an important aspect of Dawid s work, including series of cameraless photography such as his Kemigrams. This willful decision to trade clarity for the porousness and labile mystery of things is not only an investigation of the depicted object but just as much a foray into the very fabric of photography, making the medium itself the subject of his work. This long-awaited book is Dawid s most extensive publication to date and includes a compelling essay by Steven Henry Madoff. Richly illustrated and generously designed, it gives each image its own contemplative space while still preserving the continuity necessary to understand the inner workings of over thirty of his most seminal series, from the late 1970s to today.

Contemporary Swedish Photography provides an overview of Sweden s photography scene, from the legendary Christer Strömholm to the wide range of photographers practicing today. The book covers the work of over 50 photographers, presented in alphabetical order, and with an introductory text for each as well as sumptuous images of their work. Louise Enhörning's latest body of work is a meditation on love of different kinds. The title "Agape" references the Greek term for a form of non-romantic love, affection, charity. The series of photographs with their luminous colours and unearthly atmosphere deal simultaneously with depth and surface, the real and the superficial. In a seemingly random sequence of photographs, a rhythm emerges, weaving a complex web of discovery. The book features an evocative essay by Swedish art critic, philosopher, and writer Lars-Erik Hjertström Lappalainen which takes the reader on a short journey through Louise Enhörning's distinctive world of love.
