Global growth sets new records, poverty and illiteracy rates fall, technological innovation creates amazing opportunities.

Still we are deeply discontent, there is something fundamentally wrong with contemporary society. Democracies are paralysed and produce authoritarian bullies as leaders, a growing underclass sedates itself with fast carbs and moronic entertainment. Society is infantilised and political discourse implodes.

Digital Libido: Sex, power and violence in the network society is a deep and brutal analysis of humanity s rapidly increasing sense of loss and confusion in the network society. Departing from Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, and his prophetic masterpiece Civilisation and its Discontents, philosophers and futurologists Alexander Bard and Jan Söderqvist create a tour de force while digging deep into the human condition in the internet age. Exposing every aspect of the complex relationship between Man and technology, Bard & Söderqvist clarify our current and future existential dilemmas.

Welcome to the attentionalist chaos, where order gains such a massive value that people are willing to pay any price to obtain it.

So what is happening?

And why?

Digital Libido: Sex, power and violence in the network society answers the questions you were too scared to even ask.

About the authors:

ALEXANDER BARD is a philosopher, futurologist, spiritual and political activist. The Value Of Courage Bok

Art From Death Originated Bok
Every artwork is the first and last of its kind. Nothing happens the same way twice. But if this is the case, then what limits can we impose on our understanding of the historical development of art? The poles in our conceptual schema of the development of art are analogous to human life, which is placed between two poles of non-existence. This schema is used in our understanding of art, interpretation, and metaphor. Being a complex part in the intersection between life and death, this becomes transposed from experiences to things, reified objects that can make the analysis of these entities cognitively respectable. To transfer them back to experience is to see them as part of our cultural understanding: the movement from death to life and back again is grounded in the dynamic tension between the creative/deviant and conventional/established sense-making determinations. "The effort to free up our thinking about art, and in particular our habit of thinking of artworks as material objects, should be central to any serious consideration of the relation between culture and society today. Claes Entzenberg makes a bold foray right into the heart of this issue, tackling the central notion of reification in connection with the concepts of life and death, and the idea of art as a necessary intermediary. I would urge anyone interested in approaches to aesthetics which encourage us to think outside today s sometimes suspiciously orderly boxes to pick up this book and enjoy the intellectual journey." Ivar Segelberg (19141987), between 1951 and 1979 professor of philosophy in Gothenburg, is an important figure in Swedish philosophy but still only known within a rather narrow circle. Trained in both phenomenology and analytical philosophy, Segelberg developed highly original theories about time consciousness, the unity of consciousness, and general ontology. He published his three main works in Swedish, and only in 1999 were they (collectively) made available in English. The present volume will hopefully help make Segelbergs work more widely known. It is partly based on a 2008 symposium in Gothenburg, also called Philosophy and Botany, but contains several independent contributions including a newly written biography.
