When it comes to the discourse of military intervention, the market is saturated with all sorts of books of war. Such books, for the most part, tend to be narrative accounts of heroic militarism which often do not address the aspect of [societal] rehabilitation. Scores of these books do not highlight the relevance of interactive socialization as regards politically embattled nations that harbour [sociologically] shattered societies. So, there is a gap in the market when it comes to the rehabilitation of battle-scarred societies with psychologically distressed masses. Garrison Metropolis explores the adaptive rehabilitation of this embattled universe through a regenerative doctrine of military intervention called Pure militarism.

A Fatherland wherein peace is taken for granted would be headed for rack and ruin. In the fullness of time, this Fatherland will morph into a politically embattled nation wherein psychologically distressed compatriots would liquidate each other across an incensed and sociologically shattered society. Garrison Metropolis casts light on the adaptive rehabilitation of this embattled universe through a regenerative doctrine of military intervention which has been christened Pure militarism. This involves the enlistment of reformed Soldiers as part of a measured campaign against fratricidal bloodletting. This campaign will keenly address the full depth of a culture of vileness in connection with adulteration and weaponized entrapment in a dystopian setting.

USS Yorktown (CV-5) was the US Navy's first battle-worthy, purpose-built aircraft carrier. Her crew, already accustomed to wartime conditions by maintaining Neutrality Patrols during 1941 in the Atlantic, quickly adapted to the Pacific Theater, having been dispatched there immediately after Pearl Harbor. First at Coral Sea, then at Midway, Yorktown's flyers blunted the sword of Japanese aggression. The men flying from her decks were instrumental in turning the tide of WWII in the Pacific. This volume explores Yorktown's construction, prewar and wartime activities through carefully researched photos, many of which have never before been published, which are reproduced in remarkable clarity. This clarity, and the large size of many of the photos, coupled with descriptive and informative captions, puts the reader on the deck of this historic warship throughout her history.

The Douglas Devastator was the US Navy's first all-metal combat aircraft, the Navy's first airplane with a fully enclosed cockpit, the first aircraft to have hydraulically folding wings, and the first US Navy torpedo bomber to see combat. Although facing staggering losses in the early stages of the war in the Pacific, the brave men flying the Devastator from the decks of such famed ships as Enterprise, Hornet, Yorktown, and Lexington held the line against the enemy. Through carefully researched photos, many of which have never before been published and which are reproduced in remarkable clarity, the history and details of this iconic aircraft are revealed. The Panzerkampfwagen IV, or Panzer IV as it is more popularly known, formed the backbone of Germany's tank formations during WWII. With production totaling more than 8,500, the Panzer IV was the most plentiful German tank of the war, and the only German tank that remained in production for the duration of the conflict. Through more than 180 photos, this volume chronicles the design, development, and operational deployment of this ubiquitous German tank. This material is arranged in nine chapters, each focusing on a specific production model (Ausführung) of the tank.  Comprehensive tables reveal the details of the performance and technical specifications of each variant. <p>A military commander serving overseas must be prepared to act and take responsibility for events that they are not fully in control of or can influence. The same commander needs to be ready to deal with imponderable situations and operate in contradictory contexts, often in situations where there are no predetermined solutions. In Mission Commander, seven Swedish military officers describe their experiences of stressful and morally challenging situations. The interviewees have held posts ranging from battalion commander to force commander. </p><p>This book also describes a method of developing military skills by using structuredreflection, dialogue and writing. Lotta Victor Tillberg has interviewed Hans Ilis-Alm, Anders Brännström, Olof Granander, Ulf Henricsson, Hans Håkansson, Jan-Gunnar Isberg and Mats Ström. Peter Tillberg is the project leader of The Use of Force and Modern MilitaryProfessionalism , of which the interviews are a part. He is also the picture editor of <i>Mission Commander</i>. The book is part of an ongoing research project on the modern military professionand was commissioned by the Swedish Armed Forces. The Swedish Centre for Studies of Armed Forces and Society (CSMS), a forum for promoting and exchanging researchon military organizations and civil military relations, has carried out this work.</p>
