'Csontváry' (1979) depicts the life of Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka (Itzhak Fintzi), who left his position as a pharmacist to become an artist. As Csontváry pursues his passion and travels in search of inspiration, Z (also Fintzi), a successful actor due to play Csontváry on stage, struggles to understand the man he must portray. Living in a small village in the woods surrounding a grand castle, Popelka (Libuse Safránková) is forced to work as a servant undertaking menial tasks for her stepmother (Carola Braunbock). One day while out riding in the forest, she comes across a prince (Pavel Trávnícek) and his hunting party. After impressing the prince with her excellent hunting skills and charming him with her witty retorts, Popelka playfully dismisses his advances before returning home to her village. Upon returning to his former home, he discovers that his father is dead and soon falls in love with his stepmother Lenora (Vera Galatíková). It appears that Farrel was raised in a village nearby and has decided he wishes to return to see his mother (Nieves Cabrera). Unhappily, his mother suffers from Alzheimer's and is unable to remember her son, though his daughter, Analia (Giselle Irrazabal), can't remember him for a different reason - his prolonged absence.
