Approximately five years ago we released the album" Jazz & the city", which became an immediate success with more than 30 000 albums sold. Now we dare to repeat this success - this time with a completely unique content!<br/><br/>One of the CDs in this 2CD box contains Nordic material only, which we market as "Divas of Nordic Jazz". Vax Records fyller härmed en lucka i den svenska populära musikhistorien. Berättelsen om den framgångsrika sångkvartetten Wiggers - som på sin tid var stilbildande och som fick en mycket stor framgång via folkparker, skivor, radio, biofilmer - men som idag är helt bortglömd. <br/>Kvartetten tillhörde 1930-talets absoluta artistelit. De var först i Sverige med att popularisera kvartettsång och kallades "de första svenska jazzsångarna". De fyra medlemmarna kom från Operakören och inspirerades av internationella grupper som The Revellers och Comedian Harmonists.<br/>Den kompletta skivboken om Wiggers är också den första utgåvan i serien "Svenska historiska inspelningar" som består av en fyllig biografisk bok om artisten/gruppen, många bilder och när det gäller Wiggers, en komplett utgivning av deras inspelningar på sex medföljande CD-skivor.<br/>Flera av skivinspelningar finns inte ens bevarade i Kungliga bibliotekets 78-varvssamling. Det är alltså ett mycket unikt material som sammanställts till eftervärlden. Följ denna unika satsning från början, en tidsmaskin i text, bilder och ljud, som uppmärksammar vår svenska populära kulturhistoria.<br/>Förutom Wiggers medverkar många av tidens stora artister på inspelningarna, som Zarah Leander, Artur Rolén, Sven Olof Sandberg, Evert Taube samt några av den tidens mest framstående orkestrar som Håkan von Eichwalds, Karl Wehles, Gustaf Egerstams, Nils Grevillius och Sune Waldimirs.

British pianist Django Bates returns to ECM with one of his very finest constellations, the trio Belovèd, with Swedish bassist Petter Eldh and Danish drummer Peter Bruun, and an aptly named album, "The Study of Touch". All three musicians are highly individual players, subtly challenging the conventions of the jazz piano trio. The group came together a decade ago when Bates was teaching at Copenhagen's Rhythmic Music Conservatory. The shared work has included inspired reconstructions of pieces associated with Charlie Parker - a formative influence for both Bates and bassist Eldh - and in this new album, Parker's tune "Passport" is set amid Django originals, and played with respect, contemporary sensibility and joy. Some of Django's own tunes here - such as "Senza Bitterness", "Sadness All The Way Down" and "We Are Not Lost, We Are Simply Finding Our Way" have become core pieces in Belovèd's repertoire, continually remodeled by this trio of improvisers. Bates' composing and arranging skills are much in evidence, along with his freewheeling, free-flowing virtuosic melodic sense. The terse, percussive edge of Petter Eldh's bass provides momentum and drummer Peter Bruun details the music with an almost painterly touch. In the crowded world of the piano trio, Belovèd has developed a sound all its own. "The Study of Touch" was recorded at Oslo's Rainbow Studio in June 2016, and produced by Manfred Eicher.
