In 'Police Story' (1985) police officer Chan Ka-Kui (Chan) is assigned to protect informant Selina (Brigitte Lin), who is due to testify against crime lord Chu Tao (Chor Yuen). When she refuses this assistance Chan stages a mock assassination attempt in order to ensure her compliance. However, after discovering Chan's ruse, Selina does not attend the trial and Chu Tao is released on bail. With Chu Tao back on the streets Selina is in more danger than ever before. Can Chan protect her and finally bring Chu Tao to justice? In 'Police Story 2' (1988) Chan has been demoted to traffic duties following his heavy-handed manner.
