Meanwhile a group of conspirators seek to plunge France into civil war and dethrone Louis XIII, meaning Musketeers Athos, Porthos and Aramis must fight alongside D'Artagnan to save their king and country once again.

Taking the treasure for himself, he reappears as the Count of Monte-Cristo and becomes the talk of Parisian society. His happiness is short-lived however when he learns that Fernand has married Mercédès (Anaïs Demoustier), Edmond's own childhood sweetheart.
