Tsui Hark

Vi befinner oss i Kina under det tidiga 1500-talet. De styrande har, i syfte att behålla makten, infört ett förbud mot praktiserandet av kampsporter. Den grymme militären Eldvind ser detta som en möjlighet att bli rik. Han drar ut på ett våldsmat plundringståg genom Kina där han hotar allt som kommer i hans väg, men snart möter han hårt motstånd i den f.d. bödeln Fu Quigzhu. Han samlar de bästa krigare han kan få tag på, och tillsammans skapar de brödraskapet De Sju Svärden. De ska göra allt för att få stopp på Eldvinds våldsamheter.
