Med sin dingo som enda sällskap inleder lastbilschaffisen Quid sin 350 mil långa färd genom Australien för att leverera kött i Perth. För att slå ihjäl tiden fantiserar Quid ihop andra trafikanters livsöden. När han får reda på att en seriemördare slagit till under samma rutt riktas hans uppmärksamhet mot en grön skåpbil som dykt upp i hans närhet oroande många gånger. En nyfiken lifterska som Quid plockar upp dras också in i spelet. Men rör inte allt sig egentligen bara om hjärnspöken? Hans medpassagerare spelas av Jamie Lee Curtis som var ett hett namn efter skräcksuccéerna Halloween och Dimman. Regissören Richard Franklin hyllades för att ha gjort en thriller som färdades galant i Hitchcocks hjulspår, vilket gjorde honom till det självklara valet för att ratta Psycho II två år senare.

US horror sequel directed by Richard Franklin. Ex-motel owner Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) has spent most of his adult life in a secure prison, following murders he committed some 20 years before. Specialeffekt-experten Rollie Tyler blir anlitad av USA:s justitiedepartement för att låtsas begå ett mord på en gangster som ska gå in vittnesskyddsprogrammet. När "mordet" är begånget visar det sig att Tyler blivit förrådd. Detektiven Leo McCarthy som utreder mordet upptäcker samtidigt att justitiedepartementet inte ger honom alla ledtrådar och börjar nysta i fallet på egen hand.
