Johnny Jones är reporter på en tidning i New York, men blir utsedd till europeisk korrespondent och skickas till London för sitt första uppdrag. Där ska han bevaka fredsrörelsen och det förestående kriget, men blir snart indragen i en spionerihistoria där en holländsk diplomat blir kidnappad.

Ett engelskt par, Jill och Bob Lawrence, är på semester med sin tonårsdotter Betty. På en fest skjuts den hemlige agenten Louis Bernard. Men innan Louis dör hinner han berätta en hemlighet för Jill - en utländsk ambassadör kommer att mördas av terrorister i London. Terroristerna som planerar dådet kidnappar Betty och tar henne till ondon. Nu måste Jill och Bob försöka rädda livet på både sin dotter och ambassadören.
