Information om Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden är ett brittiskt heavy metal-band som bildades den 25 december 1975 av basisten Steve Harris. Namnet Iron Maiden är engelska och betyder 'järnjungfru', vilket var ett medeltida tortyrredskap och öknamn på Margaret Thatcher.
Bandet är ett av de mest inflytelserika och framgångsrika någonsin inom musikgenren metal och har sålt över 100 miljoner album utan mainstream- eller radiosupport. Gruppen har givit ut fjorton studioalbum, sju livealbum, fyra samlingsalbum, fyra samlingsboxar samt flertalet DVD med filmade live-inspelningar. Iron Maiden planerar nu även för ett 15:e studioalbum med turné.
Några av deras mest kända låtar är 2 Minutes to Midnight, Run To The Hills, The Trooper, The Evil That Men Do, Wasted Years, Flight Of Icarus, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Fear Of The Dark, Aces High och The Number Of The Beast, Can I Play With Madness, The Clairvoyant, Brave New World, The Wicker Man, Different World.
En del av Iron Maidens låtar handlar om historiska händelser som utspelat sig i deras hemland England. Andra är baserade på filmer, böcker och folksägner, exempelvis Children Of The Damned, Lord of the Flies, Aces High, The Wicker Man, Man on the Edge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Where Eagles Dare och To Tame a Land.
Gruppen har varit huvudattraktion på flera olika stora festivaler runt om i världen, bland andra Ozzfest, Rock in Rio och på festivalerna Download Festival och Monsters of Rock i Donington Park.
