Fitzgerald Ella
Ella Jane Fitzgerald, född 25 april 1917 i Newport News, Virginia, död 15 juni 1996 i Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Kalifornien, var en amerikansk jazzsångerska.
Hon gick under hedersbenämningen The First Lady of Jazz. En av USA:s absolut största sångerskor under 1900-talet inom jazz och populärmusik.
Ella Fitzgerald började sin karriär som sångerska i Chick Webbs orkester vid 18 års ålder. Hennes röst var redan vid denna unga ålder av utomordentligt hög klass. Under sin aktiva period hann hon med att spela in mer än 200 album, som bland många andra innehöll sånger av de stora kompositörerna Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, George Gershwin och Cole Porter.
Ella Fitzgerald erövrade inte mindre än 13 Grammys, vilket är mer än någon annan musiker och hon vann tre år i följd priset som bästa kvinnliga vokalist.

She had achieved much by the time she signed to the newly created Verve Records in 1956, but it was the genius of Norman Granz,<br/>her personal manager and Verve founder, in suggesting she tackle the material of great contemporary composers in themed albums that sent her career into orbit. As the New York Times wrote on her passing in 1996, "These albums were among the first pop records to devote such serious attention to individual songwriters, and they were instrumental in establishing the pop album as a vehicle for serious musical exploration." The song selections ranged from standards to rarities, and the eight-title series represented an attempt by Fitzgerald to cross over to a non-jazz audience that may have been unaware of the talents she first committed to vinyl in 1935.
