New Vienna is the fourth concert recording to be released from Keith Jarrett's final European solo tour. It follows Munich 2016, Budapest Concert and Bordeaux Concert. Why New Vienna? As Jarrett aficionados will know, his discography already includes a legendary Vienna Concert (recorded at the Vienna State Opera) whose music, he once claimed, spoke "the language of the flame itself", after long years of "courting the fire". Keith Jarrett's 2016 return to the Austrian capital brought the flames of inspiration to another historic location with lively acoustic properties, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, where, at the start of the previous century, Schoenberg, Berg and Webern had premiered works that challenged and changed the course of modern music. New Vienna, shaping its new music in the moment, is near-encyclopedic in scope. The album is issued as Keith Jarrett turns 80.

Sun Ra’s Nuits de la Fondation Maeght recordings are legendary within his extensive canon. Across two nights in August 1970, these were the first concerts Ra and the Arkestra had performed outside North America and formed part of a stellar festival line-up alongside Albert Ayler, Cecil Taylor, LaMonte Young and Marian Zazeela. Strut introduces the expanded, legendary Sun Ra ‘Nuits de la Fondation Maeght’ recordings, performed live in France across two nights in August 1970. Extensively remastered and released for Record Store Day 2025. Housed across 4CD’s, featuring a 36-page booklet featuring liner notes by Daniel Caux, Jacqueline Caux, Paul Griffiths and restored photos of the festival by Philippe Gras.

Digipack.<br/><br/>Att kombinera klassik musik och jazz är ett vågstycke som inte alltid lyckas. Anledningen är att musikformerna har skilda strukturer. Strikt noterad musik möter improviserad musik vilket kräver mycket av parterna. En av stilarterna kan lätt hamna i ett underläge som stryper spontaniteten i spelet så att musiken enkelt uttryckt får gå på konstgjord andning. Tack och lov finns det berikande undantag! Klarinettisten Staffan Mårtensson (till vardags i Hovkapellet Stockholm), pianisten Lennart Simonsson och basisten Jan Adefelt har inte gått in i fällan. Tvärtom, de har fogat samman komponenterna seriöst utan ta till nötta klichéer. Här skapar musikernas närmanden till materialet intima vibbar. Ingen av stilriktningarna naggas i kanten och kommer på mellanhand. Albumet innehåller bl.a jazzteman som There'll Never Be Another You, 'Round Midnight, Charlie Mingus bluesiga Nostalgia In Times Square och Quincy Jones Stockholm Sweetnin'. Folkmusikton finner man i Emigrantvisa och Visa från Rättvik. Från den klassiska melodiboken plockas Faurés Sicilienne opus 78. Bach och Lewis samsas ödmjukt i Intervention 1 Bach/Django och i Intervention 2 Eccles/Things, som har märkbara spår av Jerome Kerns All The Things You Are.
